Part of the nature of internet hype is the way in which the learning curve is overly weighted toward early adapters from internet oriented professions. A recent post from December on the Read/Write Web blog reports that most internet users not only don't use online word processing tools like Google docs, most have never even heard of them. For those of us within the heavy-user bubble, that's hard to believe. After all, everybody we know uses these.

Just what "mass use" means is, I suppose, a question of geography.
