A very quick buck.

I think that it was about a year ago that on one of the detective or police programs that I like to relax (and sometimes nap) to the clue to finding the murderer was the discovery that the murder had taken place at the site of an internet booster that relayed stock exchange information. I don't remember the details, but someone had tampered with the booster either to slightly delay or speed it up. This tampering gave an advantage to whoever got the desired information even a fraction of a second earlier than the competition. Though perhaps not as a motive for murder, situations such as this actually exist. Being the first to know can still be a real advantage, though I'm hard pressed to think of many other situations beyond the stock exchange when being first by only seconds, or micro-seconds, is quite that important.
