This is the information we've been promised?

The world at your fingertips. Access to everything on anything. The promise of the internet was that we could stay at home and be able to search the largest library in the world, to find information on whatever topic might interest us. And to a great extent, we can.

With one minor problem. Our search results can't bring us something that we didn't look for. And that means that even when the technology doesn't limit us, our own lack of curiosity does. A number of sites exist that check the most popular terms that get requested on various search engines. Einstein isn't very high up on the list, nor is Greek mythology, or philosophy. Both the Lycos 50 Daily Report, and searchterms.com (among others) hold a mirror up to our web searches. It's not the most flattering picture.
