Okay. So most teachers who try to develop a course on the web aren't going to try to build interesting interactions. For them a handy tool for posting reading materials is more than enough. Right?

Perhaps. But I'm not the only crazy educator out there who wants more. Perhaps I'm among the very few who devotes more time than he or she has available in trying to coerce these tools into doing things that they weren't originally intended to do. And ultimately, if I give up and say it's not worth the effort, my guess is that others have given up well before me. One more brick in the wall of the banalization of the online course.
