It is an interesting idea.

Years ago an artist friend of mine offered to install a "ground line" for me. He told me that he would paint a thin slip of dirt mixed with glue from one entrance of the apartment to another (a window, for instance) so that I would always be connected to that important element as well as to water and electricity and the like. I never carried through with the idea, though I admit that I like it. It has a way of reminding you that you're always connected to the basics. On the other hand, unlike any of the other lines under consideration here, it's not one with which you do anything. In this case, it's simply there.
