On gaining in age, and perspective.
I guess that as a teenager the song (actually the song "Old Friends" which
immediately preceded it on the album) seemed quite profound. As I've aged, however,
I find it distressingly superficial - a heavily stereotyped representation of
old age. It also seems terribly condescending.
