I suppose that it really doesn't make sense to assume that in a Boidem column what I claim at the beginning is still what I think at its end. In these columns I've even made a habit of trying to contradict myself at least somewhere along the way. Hypertext, at least associative hypertext, abhors an unnecessary consistency. So it doesn't truly follow that there's an "obvious" answer to my question concerning plain old text.
