Now that's a depressing thought!
So here I am, almost at the end of the final Boidem column, and as I reflect on what I've written here I get the impression that an inordinately large amount of what appeared in The Boidem dealt with two recurring themes - that the internet is no longer what it promised to be, and that I continually questioned whether there was really any reason to write these columns. In my defense I can note that though those topics may fill up the bulk of this column, a review of the numerous topics that over the years were covered here would testify to a wide variety of issues. It just seems to be the case that listing all those other topics wasn't one of the objectives of this particular column. But if by some strange quirk of the universe a future reader (interestingly, my tenth!) stumbles onto The Boidem and reads this column first, chances are good that he or she will think that all I did here was complain, and then filled up lots and lots of pages (it seems that there are over 3000) with existential thoughts of whether any of this writing was justified. I admit - that's a pretty screwed-up legacy, and a hell of a way to finish this project. But to a certain extent it's consistent with the overall tone of The Boidem. So why not!
