Everybody has their own preferences about Do It Yourself. I, for instance, like to search for information by myself, but am more than happy to let someone else put my shelves together. And please, please: would someone offer to take care of my garden?

I have to admit that there doesn't seem to be any inherent value in searching for information by oneself. If the important point is getting there, a bicycle, a car and a pair of feet are essentially interchangeable. But we don't always want to get somewhere quickly. Sometimes we want the scenic route. Searching for information with a tried and true search engine instead of with a streamlined portal certainly gives us the sights.
