What is happening to clubs and why?

Clubs is being slowly transitioned out of service. This means that Excite Clubs will no longer be available after December 29, 2000. We made the decision to encourage you to move the content from your clubs into other products on the Excite network that may offer you similar services and a better user experience.

What does this mean if I am the administrator of a club?

We understand that the impact of this decision affects you in a significant way. We encourage you to read below to find out more about how you can transition your club contents to other Excite products, and to keep in touch with the members of your Excite community.

What does this mean if I am a member of a club?

We are encouraging club administrators to keep in touch with you, and to let you know where the contents of your club are going to be moved. If there are photos, discussions or other things you’d like to make sure you have from your clubs before December 29, you might want to follow the steps and advice below to copy and save this content on other Excite products.

How can I move my club contents to other Excite products?

Clubs Photos:

Move your photos to Excite Webshots, the FREE premier photo destination on the internet!

Excite Webshots is an online photo site that offers a free desktop client that helps you to manage your wallpaper and screen savers. Once you have your photos stored in Webshots, you can view them on your wallpaper and screen savers, e-mail them to friends, send photos in e-cards from Blue Mountain Arts, and order prints of your photos.

In addition, Webshots offers the The MyPhotos assistant, which makes photo sharing easier and more fun. Use it to quickly upload many photos to your Webshots account and to manage your online albums more effectively.

So how can I move my photos? Just follow these steps:

  1. Go to Webshots http://webshots.excite.com/
  2. Click on My PHOTOS tab located on the upper right part of the window. Log into Webshots using your Webshots login and password. If you’ve never been to Webshots before, click on Join Webshots Now.
  3. Once you’re logged into Webshots, click Create a New Album. This will give you a place to store your Clubs photos.
  4. Give your photos an album name, description, keywords that people will associate with your photos, and even choose to include your album in a searchable directory. This is where you can decide to make your album private- you can decide who you want to see your pictures.
  5. Now you can start filling your album with photos from your clubs. The photos you are interested in moving from Clubs to Webshots must be saved as .jpg, .gif or .bmp file format for uploading to Webshots. Just enter the filename that contains your photos, and click upload. If you can’t remember the name of your photo files, click Browse and you will be able to search for your photo files. If you have a large number of photos you want to move, you should download the free Webshots MyPhoto assistant to make this transition faster and easier to manage.
  6. Now you can add a border to your photo, a caption, and even start a discussion around it.

In addition to Webshots, you can visit Excite Personals to post your personal photos to help you to meet new people, make friends or even to find your ideal match.
