The internet shows its true worth.


It's similar to the promise of community that the internet brings us: you may be the only person in your physical neighborhood with a particular interest, but even if there's only one other in a few hundred other neighborhoods, and some of them are connected to the internet, you'll be able to find each other and share in that common interest.

Whether or not that promise has actually materialized (and I have no doubt that at least occasionally it has), Napster carries that same promise into the realm of music. Even if only a few people want a particular sort of music, with thousands upon thousands of users chances are still quite good that you'll be able to find something along the lines that interest you. Unless, of course, all of those people are only there for the taking, rather than putting something in as well.
