I suppose that it's totally possible for someone to write an online column about internet related issues without linking to other sites, or at least without linking to sites other than those for which he or she receives express permission to do so, but if the Boidem attempted to do so, it wouldn't be the Boidem. I can't recall ever requesting permission to link to another site. I readily admit that even being well aware of the deep linking controversy, I never considered doing so.
