Pity the poor (digital) native.
Perhaps the best way to describe what the Boidem has attempted to do over all these years is to put the new (and today the far from new) digital reality into perspective. Newness attracts, and perspective, particularly historic perspective, can be very sobering. I've only rarely purposefully made fun of some of the more glaring attempts on the part of Silicon Valley to reinvent the wheel. But it's not ridicule called for. What we need is mindful observation. The almost natural capabilities of those born into the digital age in dealing with new technological tools have been shown, numerous times, to be a myth. What I don't think is mythical is the ability of those familiar with pre-digital times to better understand how these tools influence, or don't influence, our lives.
