Considering the continuation of that soliloquy, that's a dangerous aside. Am I perhaps hinting that The Boidem has been a tale told by an idiot? Considering that so many predictions about the future of the internet have been proven wrong, that seems like a real possibility. On the other hand, The Boidem didn't deal with predictions. Instead it attempted to view the future we found ourselves entering via a lens that had learned to focus on similarities to the past and to not be overly captivated.
But it was at about this point in the preparation of this column when I felt myself finding my groove, telling myself "and that reminds me ... oh, and this too ...". I was reminded of Cathy and her box of chocolates. Unsure whether I was branching out or simply digressing, I remembered that Cathy's chocolates showed up again in a discussion of digressions. Things got to a point at which I thought that perhaps I should build this column with links to each and every column, or at least to one page in each of them. But then I realized that the main Boidem page already does this, so there was no reason for me to do it here.
