In a number of ways Boidem columns and blog posts were quite distinct one from the other. What I came to recognize as the Boidem's style took shape relatively early in the Boidem's history, and then became rather fixed. What was perhaps most distinct about Boidem columns was that while blog posts attempted to deal with one particular education-related issue that I thought merited discussion, and attempted to arrive at some sort of conclusion that could represent my take on that issue, Boidem columns weren't particularly interested in arriving anywhere, but instead were primarily there for the ride. A blog post was, as far as was possible for me, focused. Boidem columns, on the other hand, were aggregates of often not fully related items and thoughts. They were perhaps held together by a basic theme, but it was a scotch-tape sort of adhesiveness, rather than something that hinted at true coherence. For the Boidem, super-glue had yet to be invented. The tangents were the meat and potatoes of Boidem columns.
